caught entity

For a short moment as I was passed from one to the other, I felt like an entity caught in the pull between what had to be the two most magnetic beings in the world.”

book quote, Topaz

the color market

“I slid rapidly down the dark burrow to the threshold of the sub-plains where the color market lay, and landing with my feet firmly on the hard ground, brushed myself off as I stood to look around the poorly lit surroundings. The color market was like a tiny village, spread wide to house workshops, vending stations, and Tintors’ homes tucked away like small caves along the hollowed veins of its circuitry. The only light came from candles and the bioluminescent chubbiness of flightless flaptoot byrds perched on the leafless branches of small, dead trees scattered about.”

Just a Kiss

This wasn’t love. This was icing on a cake she didn’t know the flavour to yet. She wanted this moment, this tinge of delight. Easy and careless and pain-free.

“Just a kiss,” she murmured.

book quote, literature

are you going to keep that?

The branches, though creaking, seemed soft like vines, its foliage musical gemlike ornaments. Just as they were all but done lifting themselves off the ground, a thin bough-tip scooped up the wooden stump I had loathsomely discarded and, wrapping itself around it, pulled it up amidst the other elderly limbs as they returned into their erect position.

“Um, you are going to keep that?”

book quote, literature

the smell of campfire

“The tank top pulled off in one sweep she lunged onto the unkempt bed in search for her bra. Threading it on with speed, she jumped into some faded jeans, rummaged through a drawer, and yanked out a crumpled t-shirt. She held it up; it was her black Iron Maiden one. She looked at it hard, and then smelled it. As if it could possibly still smell of campfire. The memories stormed in.”

The Nirvana Threads, coming this summer 🖤🔥

Girls – Those nights by the campfire, when you ask your girlfriend to go pee with you in the woods, do you really think a bear is going to find you or do you really just want company? The dark woods can be scary bears or no bears lol. Apparently guys do not ask the same from each other ha ha 🙃🚺🔥🐻

book quote, literature

no place for an angel

“I used to stare at the stars until I fell asleep, thinking she might be up there, watching. Then Pa explained that the skies are full of suns, planets, and flying rocks. That it was beautiful but no place for an angel. He said her soul was somewhere we couldn’t see with our eyes, or feel with our hands, but that she was close, close enough to hear my prayers and give me goodnight kisses.”

The Nirvana Threads, coming this summer!

I’ve been spending my days on the accompanying graphic novel and it’s so loooong. I’m in a constant roller coaster between being excited and discouraged. “Keep on swimming!” As would say Dory… 🐠

book quote, literature

“Can you see anything?”

img_5422Inside was pitch black. A moment went by where all she could hear was her panting, riled up with mischievousness. Then she heard another breath.
“Carlie,” he whispered. She didn’t answer. Her hands looked for him in the dark. There was the clanging of a bucket or some junk at her feet as she stepped forward.
“Shit,” she whispered.
“Ah, it is you.”
“Who else would it be?” Her hand discovered his shoulder and she pulled herself up close to him. She still couldn’t see anything.
“Can you see anything?” She asked.
“No.”
“Good.” Her hands felt their way to his face. She pulled herself closer still, and backed up just enough for their noses to stop touching. They breathed each other’s breath in the blinding dark. Her heart raced, thumping loudly, and she was sure she could hear his when they finally kissed.

book quote

Dusk Approached

“Dusk approached and bid me to retire. Leaving the outskirts of the playing field, I slipped into the quaint tent appointed to me. I bounced on the sleeping mat after throwing my slingbags on it and plunged my hands into one of them. Out came the precious book. It was old and brown, its linen cover’s varnish peeling off in small flakes. I lifted it to my nose and fanned the pages. It smelled of ambriwood, a musky, dark, blue oil Seraphine wore as a fragrance. It carried me away to a distant memory of being cradled as I drifted to sleep, with grandiose images of imposing impurzels, bubbled squishy senti-babes floating over the land, and a feeling of boundless love, the kind only a pure, innocent senti-child can feel.”
