I grew up in a household full of melodies and instruments. My parents practiced with their band in the basement and I mimicked their tunes on my little organ. I started playing guitar around the age of seven and, following my big sister’s taste in heavy metal, I was playing Iron Maiden at nine. It was the eighties! As a young adult, I wrote and recorded two albums (the 2nd one co-written with my husband). Though my main instrument is the guitar, I will mess around with anything I lay my hands on. I fronted the group August Elliot, singing and playing lead guitar. Future projects are currently on hold but I am trying to tame the banjo. Some of my favourite bands are Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Faith No More, and Nirvana; 90’s skater punk rock such as Lagwagon, No Use for A Name, and Good Riddance; mellow shit like Bon Iver, Novo Amor, and Sufjan Stevens, Elliot Smith (great painting music); Phantogram, Beck, Death Cab For Cutie; Led Zep, Hendrix, The Beatles; Metallica pre Black Album; a Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Beastie Boys… My tastes are very eclectic.
AugustElliot is rain-shine in your chocolate milk cereal, with me at the mic and guitar and my husband Mitch at the bass and electronic beeps and boops.
