Exhibiting work with L’Original

Hello! Dropping a little note to let you know that I have work hanging at the new and third L’Original gallery space at 384 St-Paul West, in the scenic old Montréal, for the next 3 months (into March). If you are in the neighbourhood, stop by and see them in the flesh! Because art loves to be seen 😍

For their other two locations, l’original gallery is focussing on small sizes for Christmas shoppers. So I have two 8″ x 8″ s at their other old port location, a few blocks east, at the 168 St-Paul W :

And at their location on the Plateau, the 4455 St-Denis:

🙂 thanks for looking!

Loving the Work

Lesson learned

Still life graphite pencil drawing of a bear skull

On 11” x 14” on canson bristol

I’ll tell you something. I can sit there and question what I’m doing, where I’m going with my art, what meaning does it have for me, for anyone else, why this and not that…. Seriously. What am I even doing???

Then, when I eventually sit down to work, everything melts away. All the confusion, the angst, the incessant doubt, the existential dread, and I feel calm and my mind is clear and I find purpose. Right then, wordlessly, it all makes sense.

It doesn’t matter what I’m working on, if I think it’s good or bad or whether the imagery is important or useless or whatever. Just Working – not thinking about the work – but the actual doing, brings me indescribable peace.

So ya, maybe this is just a skull, reading glasses, a book. Maybe it can bring a chuckle, maybe in can spark feelings about the nature we are killing with our ignorance (seriously whatever floats your boat), but for me it was a bunch of hours of blissful work, especially after weeks and weeks of spiralling into a black hole of wtf-am-I-doing.

I love the work.

Thanks for looking.
